Marketing Area Partnerships

For marketing purposes at a national level, Mid Wales has been further divided into 3 'Marketing Areas' or 'sub brands': 'Mid Wales and the Brecon Beacons'; 'Ceredigion & Cardigan Bay' and 'Snowdonia Mountains and Coast'.
We provide funding to help our different Marketing Area partners to take part in Visit Wales national campaigns and to develop and distribute new marketing materials on specific themes such as golf, walking and conferences.

Visit Wales

During 2010, Visit Wales worked closely with the Wales Tourism Alliance and the Ministerial Tourism Advisory Panel to produce a strategic framework within which their marketing plans for the next three years will be developed.

The Strategic Marketing Action Plan (SMAP) defines the big challenge that they face as a national tourism marketing organisation, and it sets out the basic principles that they will follow as they plan their marketing campaigns.  The SMAP is not a detailed document, and it does not replace the individual campaign plans.  The marketing plans will be consistent with the overall approach set out in the SMAP, but they will always reflect developing market conditions and the needs of our stakeholders in the Wales tourism industry.

The SMAP also seeks to better define the marketing role of Visit Wales so that their partners and stakeholders are able to plan their own activity more effectively.  Our aim is to encourage tourism marketing for Wales that avoids duplication.
